Trekking Expedition From Everest Base Camp
The Everest Base camp is a popular destination, as it offers diverse challenges and thrilling adventures, as you trek across terrain dominated by the Sherpa people who are very friendly and caring. The Everest Camp Trek has become famous ever since Sir Edmond Hilary, along with his team, set out on the first expedition in 1953. The best way to reach the camp quickly, within a limited time, is to start trekking from Lukla, which takes about two weeks to complete.
You follow the Dudh Koshi valley to climb to Namche Bazaar, which is the capital of bustling Sherpa. It is at the crossroads for tourists, local people and trekkers to wish to make it to the summit of Everest. The thrill of adventure pulses through your veins as you trek though giant firs, rhododendron forests and walk through beautiful magnolias. The richness of the red rhododendrons hit you when you view them against the blooming white magnolias in its entire splendor. From Namche, the trek starts in earnest to Everest. The views at this high altitude are amazing and you can spot the Buddhist monastery at Tengboche that will take about 2 hours of steep hiking to reach. This monastery is perched at the top of a ridge at 3867m and is surrounded by the rhododendrons and a dense growth of dwarf figs.
The view of the sun holds you spellbound as it rises in majestic splendor amid surroundings that are dramatic, yet mystical. The trek moves downwards at this point, where you reach ImjaKhola, before taking you to the Pangboche and Pheriche villages. You reach Kumbu Glacier after trekking for a few hours and then you follow a glacier. You continue on this path, till you break at the next overnight stop at Lobuche village, which lies at the foot of the awesome Lobuche peak. The panoramic view at this point is spectacular and you can behold Mt. Ama Dablam and other peaks, such as Taweche, in its entire majestic splendor. Gorak Sheop is the last halt on the Everest base camp and this is reached by hiking up a strenuous elevation.
You reach the gateway to the Everest Base Camp at Gorak Shep. From here you can climb Kala Pathar to get a bird’s eye view of the Everest Base Camp. Trekking in Nepal is really tough due to the high altitudes. To reach this camp you will have to descend to the foot of Khumbu Icefall where the view is really spectacular. Thus, you will have one unforgettable experience in this special country!
For people who dream of conquering the Everest, the Everest base camp trek is a wonderful opportunity for a trekking expedition. This classic Nepal trekking holiday begins from Upper Phakding.
